Hanford Site
Economic Transition Program

The purpose of the Economic Transition Program of the U. S. Department of Energy Richland Operations Office (DOE-RL) and Office of River Protection (ORP) is to help diversify the economy of community surrounding the Hanford Site so that it will be less dependent on the Hanford Cleanup Mission. In addition to a focus on seeking private, non-Hanford work, planning now includes "growing" Hanford non-cleanup work and seeking new Hanford missions. In pursuing both non-Hanford and non-Cleanup work, DOE and contractors will continue to work closely with the community in the diversification efforts of the Program.

The Economic Transition Program is comprised of the following separate but coordinated programs and activities. The contractor Programs have substantial portions of the activities supported via corporate (Private) resources.

DOE-RL Economic Transition

CH2M HILL Hanford Group (CHG) Economic Transition Program

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) Office of Economic Development (EDO)
