Worksite visits (WSV) are typically considered a standard part of a comprehensive, prevention-based occupational medical program. Physicians and Physician Assistants from AdvanceMed Hanford (AMH) conduct visits to Hanford worksites on a regular basis. These WSV serve to improve teamwork with contractor organizations and to stimulate the flow of information between AMH’s medical staff and the contractors and their employees. Areas to be visited may include work spaces, laboratories, shops, control rooms and any other work areas deemed appropriate by DOE, contractors, or AMH. WSV are conducted for the following purposes:
1) To improve the quality of care provided to Hanford workers by AMH medical staff becoming more familiar with the actual work activities, work environment, and potential hazards.
2) To observe work areas from a medical perspective in support of employer hazard assessment efforts and to provide medical recommendations to management in support of worker health and safety,
3) To integrate trend analysis, when applicable, and to provide a management interface for communication of the findings of this analysis, and
4) To meet contract and 10CFR851 Worker Safety and Health program requirements.
