Infection Control & Immunizations
AMH infection control personnel emphasize prevention through such services as annual flu vaccinations, blood borne pathogen training/Hepatitis-B immunization, and updating diphtheria/tetanus immunization when appropriate.
Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) Training and Medical Surveillance
AMH provides OSHA required Bloodborne Pathogen Initial Training for Site contractor employees. The class is taught by AMH medical staff through EnergX Safety Training. During the class, the students will be instructed in how to go about receiving the Hepatitis B vaccination series at the AMH health care center. A form is offered to each student with sections for requesting the series or declining the shots. If an employee requests the 3 shot series there are three requirements that must be met:
1. Completion of the BBP initial training
2. The employee’s EJTA should reflect that the employee is in the Bloodborne Pathogen Medical Surveillance Program (verify with your manager)
3. The employee must bring the yellow copy of the Hepatitis B Vaccination form to the AMH healthcare center to receive the first injection
The employee may go to the AMH healthcare center for the shots anytime without an appointment. AMH will not notify the employee to come in for the first injection, but will send reminders for the second (30 days after the first) and third shots (6 months after the first).
If the employee declines the hepatitis series in the class, but later changes his mind, he may go to the AMH healthcare center and sign another form.
Contractors should contact EnergX (946-9654) to schedule employees who need this OSHA training.
