The impact of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act on local communities was a key topic at the meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures in Richland, WA from May 31 to June 3, 2009. Twenty-four lawmakers from six states attended the meeting, which was called Hanford Summit: Environmental Roundtable. The purpose of the roundtable was to familiarize state law-makers on the issues and challenges facing cleanup of former nuclear weapons production sites.
