Workers demonstrate installation of cone penetrometers as part of the project start-up review for the 618-10 Burial Ground non-intrusive testing. Cone penetrometers, or steel tubes, will be driven about 27 feet into the soil around each vertical pipe unit. Instrumentation will be lowered into each penetrometer to radiologically characterize the contents of each vertical pipe unit.
