CH2M HILL Hanford Group Interface
CH2M HILL Hanford Group is the
Department of Energy's closure contractor for the River Protection
Project, providing planning, project delivery, and nuclear safety expertise to accelerate clean up
and close Hanford's 177 large underground waste tanks.
Tank Farm Vadose Zone Project
The Groundwater Remediation Project interfaces with the Tank Farm Vadose
Zone Project, managed by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of River
Protection and coordinated by the CH2M HILL Hanford Group. In response to past waste
leaks, the Tank Farm Vadose Zone Project characterizes soils around single-shell tanks,
recommends interim actions to remediate impacts from those leaks, and implements approved
measures.
Tank Farm Closure Performance Assessment
The tank farm closure performance assessment activity supports the U.S.
Department of Energy's Office of River Protection. This
activity estimates the long-term human health and environment impacts
from the closing of Hanford tank farms and associated facilities. The activity will create both
performance assessments (to meet federal requirements) and risk assessments (to meet state requirements).
Integrated Disposal Facility (IDF) Performance Assessment
The Integrated Disposal Facility (IDF) performance assessment
activity supports the U.S. Department of Energy's Office
of River Protection. This activity continues the efforts of the immobilized low-activity waste (ILAW)
performance assessment activity. This activity estimates the long-term human health and
environmental impacts from the disposal of radioactive solid waste (including ILAW packages) in the planned
Integrated Disposal Facility in Hanford's 200 East Area.
