Schedule

As noted, The Hanford Site Manhattan Project and Cold War Era Historic District Final Treatment Report is scheduled for completion on September 30, 2000. To achieve this objective, the work will be partitioned over a 4-year period (see Table A.8 in Appendix A).

FY 1997

During fiscal year 1997 (October 1, 1996 to September 30, 1997), draft sections of Chapter 2 will be written to cover Construction History, Plutonium Finishing, Reactor Operations, and Worker History. Twenty-nine (29) ExHPIFs and 29 HPIFs will be completed. In determining which specific properties will be documented, first consideration will be given to those buildings and structures scheduled for demolition during FY1997. Consideration will then be given to those that will undergo house cleaning in preparation for demolition. Consideration will next be given to properties associated with the historic narratives being written. Should these criteria result in the selection of fewer properties than necessary to meet the yearly objective, additional properties will be selected in FY1998, again based on needs.

FY 1998

During FY1998, draft sections of Chapter 2 will be written to cover Chemical Separations, Health and Safety, Site Security, and Infrastructure (Transportation, Communication, and General Site Support). Chapter 4 will also be drafted following public outreach and receipt of comments as discussed above. Seven ExHPIFs and 60 HPIFs will be completed utilizing the criteria discussed above. The HAER documentation for 105-B will be completed. Draft Chapters and site forms from FY1997 will be distributed through established DOE-RL public involvement procedures for comment.

FY 1999

During FY1999, draft sections of Chapter 2 will be written to cover Military Operations, Research and Development, and Waste Management. Twelve ExHPIFs and 24 HPIFs will be completed. The HAER documentation for 221-T will be completed. Draft materials from FY1998 will be distributed for public comment.

FY 2000

During fiscal year 2000, Chapter 1 will be drafted. The draft section on Fuel Manufacturing will be written to complete Chapter 2. Chapter 3 will be compiled from sources developed to date. Nine ExHPIFs will be completed. The HAER documentation for 313 will be completed. Draft materials from FY1999 will be distributed for public comment. The initial draft of the Treatment Report will be prepared.

FY 2001

Draft Treatment Report will be distributed for public comment. Final Treatment Report will be printed and distributed.
