Larry Zaragoza,
We would like to express our gratitude for helping Region 09 provide the State of Hawaii Superfund DQO training. The DOE training module
"Systematic Planning for Environmental Decision Making" was very well received by State of Hawaii Dept. Of Health (DOH) personnel as also by the many other Federal and private sector participants. The 2 and a half day training covered the EPA's recommended 7 Step DQO systematic planning process and effectively utilizes case histories and a vast variety of examples to illustrate concepts and principals behind the DQO process. DOE's contractor Bechtel Eng. and Envirostat were well prepared and exhibited extensive knowledge in the subject area.
Marlon Mezquita of my QA staff met with Dr. Keith Kawaoka, chief of the DOH Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response Office, and received very positive feedback regarding this DQO training. Also, Marlon informs me that course was held in two seperate sessions, and both sessions were filled to capacity with a variety of Agencies including Navy, Army, DOH, and the private sector. Class participants were very receptive to course material and organization.
However, due to limited space, there were many interested parties which could not attend the training, we have already received various requests for a follow up training, and seek your assistance for additional DQO training sessions in the near future. Thanks, Vance Fong.
