How do you make sure your work location is fire safe? Ensure fire safety equipment is free and clear of obstructions and readily available. If your building has the following, check to confirm:

A fire safety inspection checklist is included as part of this lesson plan to assist you and the safety meeting attendees in performing an inspection of your facility. You are encouraged to use the checklist and involve the group in this effort.

If theres an indication of a fire, call '911' first, then notify building occupants while exiting the building. (NOTE: If the building is provided with a manual fire alarm system, pull a manual fire alarm pull box. This will notify the fire department and sound a building fire alarm.) The buttons on the front of the Radio Fire Alarm Repeater Boxes will notify the fire department when pushed, but do not sound building alarms.
Dont compromise your safety or the safety of others! If theres a fire, exit the building and let the fire department fight the fire. They have the appropriate equipment and are trained for this job. |
