Hanford Fire Department Hosts Job Shadow Student

On February 24, 1998, several parents from DynCorp Tri-Cities Services hosted their high school sons and daughters as part of a job shadow experience. The Hanford Fire Department was privileged to host job shadow student Danielle Click from Kennewick’s Southridge High School. She is the daughter of Lonnie Click, a Hanford Fire Battalion Chief, and Sharon Click, a PNNL employee.

Danielle spent the day assisting emergency responders with their daily duties, such as equipment inventories on the fire engine and ambulance. She accompanied the fire crew on a building tour in the 200 East Area and visited the Maintenance Garage. To provide a well-rounded experience for Danielle, she was "geared up" – donned with full personal protective equipment including bunker gear, helmet and full SCBA mask.

Part of Danielle’s assignment was to interview one of the firefighters. The firefighter was impressed with the level of detail and extent of the interview.

At the end of the day, Danielle was presented with a certificate of recognition from Chief Don Good as a token of appreciation for providing the Hanford Fire Department with the opportunity to share information with her about a career in the fire service.
