Response & Performance Indicators
In 1998 the HFD responded to:
- 753 emergency incidents,
- 550 alarm investigations,
- 25 hazardous material incidents,
- 9 mutual aid calls, and
- treated 208 emergency medical patients
- 3,593 SCBA bottles were filled
- 154 fire investigation files were opened by the fire marshal's office
- 126 fire marshal permits were issued
- HFD instructors provided fire prevention education to 538 non-HFD site
employees, comprised of 403 student hours and fire extinguisher training to 488
non-HFD students who expended 976 student hours in this training.
SCBA activities
- 378 units received for biannual/annual repair/overhaul and testing
- 1,199 biannual/annual tests complete
- 6 new units received for initial testing prior to field placement
- 6 cylinders received for final process and excess
- 336 HFD cylinders processed after hydrotesting
- 164 regulator bench tests performed
- 86 reducer bench tests performed
- 73 SCBAs repaired
- 422 cylinder valves repaired or rebuilt
- 40 harnesses & frames repaired
- 175 Ska-Paks tested
- 988 site cylinders picked up and delivered
- 10 new cylinders purchased
- 160 cylinder sent for hydrotesting
PAPR activities
- 1,532 batteries tested
- 1,511 blowers tested
- 1,597 PAPR units delivered to field
- 1,584 PAPR units received for scheduled maintenance, testing & repair
- 203 PAPR units purchased
