Cross Site Transfer System Case Study

One of the outreach activities we have recently implemented in our STEM outreach program is an Engineering Case Study regarding the Cross Site Transfer System, authored by Deputy Manager Ben Harp.  The Cross Site Transfer Line consists of the underground piping and other equipment, such as valve pits, which will pump waste between tanks to and from different facilities between the 200 East and 200 West Areas.  The objective of the Case Study is to present existing multi-dimensional challenges faced at Hanford regarding the Cross Site Transfer System to university students by using problem statements to be solved by students.
