All work associated with specified facilities* requires safety review

All work associated with posted areas of facility* requires safety review, all areas for invasive work, D&D and building modifications**

All work associated with posted beryllium storage areas of facility requires safety review

All work in posted areas of specified facilities* requires safety review prior to invasive work, D&D or building modification**

No review required for work in facility

NOTE: Facilities shown in parenthesis are no longer present or not under the jurisdiction of the Department of Energy.

* - A facility is defined at the interior surfaces of the building and closed systems attached to the building with a potential for beryllium contamination (e.g., exhaust ventilation systems).

** - Invasive work, D&D and building modification work includes all work that opens closed systems or exposes new surface areas that have not been characterized for beryllium.

*** - These facilities have been characterized. They were generally not characterized down to 0.2 ug/100 cm2. They are not considered to be beryllium-cleared facilities, though exposure to beryllium during routine activities is considered highly unlikely.
