Hanford Employee Safety Related to COVID-19
The safety of our employees is our top priority. We began taking proactive steps in February by encouraging our employees to follow the federal, state and county public health agency guidelines to keep themselves, their colleagues, and their families well. We are monitoring CDC updates and checking the Washington State Department of Health and Benton-Franklin Health District web pages frequently for new information. To date, no confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the Hanford Site. If a site employee reports tested for COVID-19 and a facility needs to be closed for cleaning, other site employees will be notified by our Emergency Operations Center shift office. If a site employee reports a presumptive positive but unconfirmed or confirmed positive case of COVID-19, other site employees will be notified by our Emergency Operations Center shift office. The shift office will initiate appropriate actions, which could include closing part of or all of a facility while cleaning of the jobsite where the employee works is completed. We are working closely with our colleagues across the Hanford Site and will modify our actions if needed. We want our employees, colleagues across the Hanford Site, and the community to know we are prepared for this situation and are working diligently to mitigate its potential impact.
