The US Department of Energy estimates that cleanup at the Hanford site will continue until approximately 2078. Part of the Hanford site is likely to remain off-limits to the public in perpetuity. The remainder of the Hanford site could potentially open for other land uses.
The OHCB is curious to hear multiple perspectives of what those future land uses could, or should, entail – and how cleanup decisions and activities today will support those future land uses. Representatives of the Tri-Party Agencies, Native American Tribes, the Tri- Cities Development Council, and the State of Oregon will participate in the discussions.
