The purpose of this meeting is the U.S. Department of Energy has proposed updates to the Hanford Emergency Management Plan (Attachment 4) and the Permit Applicability Matrix (Attachment 9).  The proposed changes address requirements applicable to interim status treatment, storage and disposal units, which refer to facilities that have not yet received a permit but must comply with Washington Administrative Code, Chapter 173-303, Section 400, self-implementing standards to treat, store, or dispose of dangerous waste.  There is a comment period of 60 days associated with this proposal, which will begin on Sept. 15 and run through Nov. 13, 2014.  Subject matter experts will be at the Richland Library on Oct. 8, at 6:00 p.m. to explain the proposed updates and answer questions.
