The United States Department of Energy (USDOE) proposes a Class 3 permit modification and Temporary Authorization request for 325 HWTUs portion of the Hanford Facility Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Permit. Located in Hanford’s 300 Area, this unit of Hanford’s dangerous waste permit consists of six rooms in the 325 Building, three of which are in the Shielded Analytical Laboratory. The unit stores and treats a variety of small volumes of dangerous and mixed wastes from lab operations in the 300 Area. This Operating Unit Group (OUG) is owned and operated by the USDOE and co-operated by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. What are the Changes Being Proposed? The proposal is to add three new units to 325 HWTUs as permitted areas for storage and treatment of waste. A temporary Authorization (TA) has been submitted to allow work to move forward quickly. See the Documents for Review for additional information on other changes being proposed.
