The United States Department of Energy (USDOE) proposes a Class 2 permit modification for LERF/ETF portion of the Hanford Facility Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Permit. This unit of Hanford’s dangerous waste handles liquid wastes from groundwater remediation and the condensate from the 242-A Evaporator. The permittees for this portion of the permit are the USDOE and CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company.
What are the Changes Being Proposed? The proposed modifications include one section of the following chapter of the LERF/ETF permit: Chapter 4, Process Information. A temporary authorization (TA) request is included in this permit modification request to allow for these liner repairs to proceed while the public comment period is held. This will prevent a disruption in waste management activities.
