The Department of Energy responds to the lawsuit filed by Heart of America
The Department does not ship waste from other clean-up sites to Hanford and has no plans to do so. In a January 6, 2006 agreement with the State of Washington, the Department agreed not to import low level waste, mixed low level waste or transuranic waste (with limited exceptions agreed to by the State of Washington) to the Hanford site until completion of the Tank Closure and Waste Management Environmental Impact Statement (TC&WM EIS).
