Behavioral Health Services
Behavioral Health Services (BHS) offers professional psychological services to Hanford Site employees to support health, wellness, safety, and productivity. Services include psychological assessment and testing, fitness-for-duty and return-to-work evaluations, substance abuse monitoring, and adult psychological counseling. All providers are licensed in the state of Washington and hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology or licensure as a mental health counselor.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP is a confidential counseling service that provides up to eight sessions per calendar year at no cost to the employee. The EAP is available to employees to address such issues as depression, anxiety, workplace conflict, stress, and anger management. EAP providers work in collaboration with the employee’s personal healthcare provider to provide an integrated approach to care. EAP providers are experienced clinicians who work from a variety of orientations (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal, and process experiential counseling). Employees work in collaboration with the BHS provider to identify the evidence-based intervention best suited for their needs.
Other Services
Behavioral Health Services also offers programming to Hanford leadership and work teams to improve communication and provide support in response to critical incidents. These programs include educational presentations and workshops, conflict resolution consultations, crisis response, and critical incident debriefings. For more information about these services or to schedule an appointment, please contact us at (509) 376-4418.

- Head Injury (i.e., concussion, stroke, brain tumor, or other medical conditions that may affect memory and cognition)
- Psychiatric Disorder (i.e., depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders)

If your condition meets any of the medical criteria identified above, you should contact BHS to begin the return-to-work process.

- To help reduce the potential for premature ending of disability benefits, contact your treating medical provider and coordinate your return-to-work date with your BHS appointment date.
- Bring your treating medical provider’s return-to-work approval note to your BHS appointment.
- After completing your BHS evaluation, you may also need to see a medical provider to finish the return-to-work process and obtain a record of visit for your employer.
