Public Comment Period on a Draft Supplement Analysis for the West Area Tank Treatment Mission to Comply with the National Environmental Policy Act
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is holding a 30 60-day public comment period on its supplement analysis for the West Area Tank Treatment Mission at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington state.
The draft analysis evaluates whether DOE’s plans to pretreat tank waste from the 200 West Area, grout on-site and/or off-site, and to transport and dispose of it in permitted, off-site facilities requires a new environmental impact statement, a supplemental statement, or no additional review under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The draft is being prepared in accordance with NEPA implementing procedures at 10 CFR 1021.314.
The comment period runs from March 24 to April 23 May 23, 2025.
