The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will hold a public hearing on the Draft Tank Closure and Waste Management Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Hanford Site. A 140-day public comment period will run from October 30, 2009 through March 19, 2010. An open house will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where members of the public have the opportunity to meet and speak informally with representatives from DOE and Washington State Department of Ecology, a cooperating agency on this EIS . The public hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m. with brief presentations by DOE and Ecology followed by public comment.
